Look Before You Leap

Look before you leap

That's what my mother used to say to me

Like a child who knew everything, I acted un-interested in her wisdom and words of advice

Until I hit the streets of what they call REAL LIFE.

All the wisdom and lessons they used to teach I never applied until I had to

LOOK BEFORE I LEAPED,

the men, the friends, and the ever so harsh streets

can teach you the same tricks if only you

LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP

so now I am at a crossroads and there are no bridges or mountains to leap

only the black pavement and the desire to wish I had somewhere to

LOOK BEFORE I LEAPED
