Looking Glass

There's beauty in the stars,

and in the daylight sky,

but when you're looking in a mirror,

Do you see beauty in your eyes?

Beauty can only be judged by the beholder but,

Why put your self-confidence on someone else's shoulder?

I don't, understand why everyone's striving for perfection.

Adjectives are subjective

so you can never please the collective.

But knowing this we still try,

bleeding to please someone else,

Why?

Why does it matter what they have to say

When everyone is beautiful in their own way?

There's beauty in the soul,

and I know, everyone has one

So there's beauty in the whole,

There's beauty in the chasm,

The one we try to paint over with makeup and pretty things,

the one that makes us think we're not good enough for anything.

There's beauty in your eyes,

beauty in who you are

There's no beauty in the makeup

that covers up your scars.

So look in the mirror,

with your eyes and your's eyes alone.

Because everyone has a scar,

Even if it doesn't show.

So, look in the mirror,

behold the beauty that you own

and only let he who is without flaw,

cast the first stone.
