LOVE A WITCH

"Abrakadabra!" They kept bellowing to our animals; "Rigidripigidri!" to our produce
Suddenly smothered with shroud of mist, then disappear as they nod and smirk
My town thrown into a rumbustious uproar, Children sniveling, shrieks here and there
Witches whizzing on their sinuous broomsticks, as their sinister fume ooze
Mien of pale wizened skin, black smock, shimmering hat, fiery galoshes, to each her fetish stick
Our men, mere famers, wishy-washy to fight, singed with fear
Though wonted with such subtle blitz, we're always taken aback, always shuddering
Our Mothers, like lionesses, ralied to salvage some harvest
Somewhat shilly-shally spell casted on Fathers, like molten statues they gawped
All efforts swallowed by fiasco, they pillaged our village, left us skint, needy and whimpering
Simmered with rage, we loathed the witches, our yen to slit their throat and hearts digest
Willy-nilly we prepared for war; re-ecohes of their haw-haws gots us irated, more so as our loses we gaped
Stout and sturdy, rigorous and ready; we await their return
Poised for battle, farmers turn warriors, even the sun was fried by our incinerating ferocity
Months of years buried, none came, our ire frazzled, our zest set on the wane
We grew flabby, the town was in a singsong, all jaded, to the oven we threw our weapons to frizzle and burn
Filled with this slimy lethargy, we longed for the tumult, the skirl we made, such frightful felicity
Even the blossoming of our crops was benumbed, we boggle at eating; for our boon was the Witches' return than the fall of rain!
Bang! I heard a whanging sound from the Forest; aha! It could be them; yippee! Frantically I went shouting: "They are Coming!"
Fleetly invigorated, everyone shouted in elation
The Children frisked and romped, as the flautists played to our delight
We danced to the cymbals clashing, the sough of the piccolo, the bassoon humming
"The Witches are coming, our boredom is going!" We sang in jollification
Astonished, they gazed from their broomsticks, each bamboozled at this sight:
The frenetic welcome, the furor, the music, the gala, so overwhelming
Our produce, well packaged and arranged, ready for collection
Enthralled and thrilled, they joined us in a perennial banquet till the end of night!
