More Than a Color

You look at me

What do you see

Do you see the stereotypical "double negative"

Or a young woman just trying to live

I'm just the same as you, you, and you

Made of dreams, aspirations, and potential too

I want to be loved and appreciated

Not unjustly punished and degraded

Together we can change the world one mind at a time

Working in kindness to remove these color lines

Wiping out racist remarks and stereotypes

Helping one another get past this plight

Now look at me

What do you see
