My Land
Civil Rights Poem
By: Paoly E. Ozuna

Education is key
To open the door
You need a dream.
To sit, in front of those who came after you
To fight,
Or stand in front of those before you.

To initiate challenge
Or to start a fight?
To retaliate silence
Or to scream for life.

Actions done from my founding fathers and mothers.
Not George, but Martin.
Not the creators of the Bill of Rights,
But the creators of my Civil Rights, who before any human in my land
There shall be due process of rights.
