My Scene (ref. "Miniver Cheevy")

Curse and blessing, gift of spite

Prisoner of day-and-night

The life I live is grand indeed

And yet I fall to subtle greed

Politics are naught to me

A slough of amorality

And if it lives, then let it be

By person, not by company

King and Country, Lord and Land

This, my vehement demand

An age of steel and loyalty

Of sacrifice and calvary

And yet I still continue here

Reality that's set austere

Forever stressed beyond my means -

The world's a stage, and this my scene
