My Siren Song

Come to the library,
Come to the dorms,
Where students cram knowledge into their brains.
Come where af ectionate teachers help prepare you for the world. Listen to the pages
flip and the keyboards clicking.
Hear that considerate roommate or passionate teacher push you toward your greatest
achievement. Hear your proud parents as you finally tell them….you made it.
As you walk across that stage and receive your degree,
You become a role model to others who strive for greatness just as you did. You are now
ready to take on the world with open arms, for you are invincible.
The sirens sing this out to me as I prepare to leave the waters of
high school. Unlike others I will not crash into their island shores of Stress, Financial
Problems, and Other Burdens of College,
For I have maps, maps that will help me find ways around the Sirens' treacherous
islands. Maps like these. That will not only help guide me to safety, but to my
inevitable success.
