In Need of a Friend

I just needed a friend

Dark and dim in the closet

No room to breathe

I was suffocating

No one was able to see

Pale face and empty stomach

Words transform to cuts

Cuts develop to marks

I just needed a friend

Silence developed into a voice

It was a breath of fresh air

Blossomed face, pink lips

olive skin, Stuffed belly,

Darkness turns to light

Marks are replaced

Kisses take their place

Self-hate transforms to love

I just needed myself
