The Need To Know Of Origin

“Or are they from there?”

“What does it matter”, I ask

For about the millionth time.

Why does one side not care

and exist on the left?

Why does one side care too much

and exist on the right?

“What is the point?”

“Why Does It Matter?”

Let’s give them rights.

Let’s give them equal opportunities.

Let’s give them almost preferential treatment.

Let’s keep them out of our country.

Let’s keep them from their best possible life.

Let’s keep them from a chance to move up in the world.

All men are created equal.

All people have a voice.

(But only if we want you to have one)

Give you the right to vote?

Sure no problem.

Give you health care?

Sure no problem.

Give your children education?

Sure no problem.

Build a wall?

and we will make you pay for it.

Deport you?

easy, already in the process

Ban you from our country?

Not a Problem

In a polarized world

Democracy is at its finest

When we can not simply decide

that like our forefathers

We Are All Immigrants

that like our forefathers

People Should Gain Rights

that like our forefathers

Moving Up In Society Was Possible

that like our forefathers

Democracy was at its finest.

Regardless left or right

-neither being right of course-

We Are All Immigrants

with one American Dream

Let people be people

If you need to judge:

Judge their morals

their ethics

their kindness

their trustworthiness

their personality

their determination

their character.

Do Not Judge their Origin.

That Is Unnecessary.
