Never Steal My Wild Feathers

Location

I don’t want to be a robot, someone’s invention

I’m not a super hero, I must mention

I’m not the center of all attention

I am one out of the whole deal

Of cards, dear, I’m the only one here

Not filled with so much fear

And I’m actually real

I’ll make paper airplanes out of diary pages

I’ll scream a rap song while my enemy rages

For the prom, I have Igor as an escort

I was never glittery, or a talent for sports

I’ll admit, I was jittery in spot light

I even have bad dreams at night

But look at me, wrapped in neon ribbons

And the scar on my left cheek was never quite forgiven

Don’t laugh at my sneakers all duck taped together

Never will I be ashamed again

Take my pain as gain,

Let love be with me forever

And I’ll be a person that loves my name

So never steal my wild feathers

I don’t want to be the lightning to someone’s thunder

I’m not an idol in everyone’s wonder

I’m not in the crowds that pull you under!

I am one out on the mountain

In the sun’s heat, I’m found and sealed

I spring from the youthful fountain

And I’m actually real

I’ll make a necklace with noodles of spaghetti

I’ll decorate each room with thrift shop confetti

It is true, I may be the weirdest kid in town

In halls of honor, I’ll never be found

I’ll admit, I was never really bright

As the starlight’s in the navy of night

But look at me, with wings from heaven

And the scar on my left cheek was never quite forgiven

Don’t laugh at my glasses all duck taped together

Never will I be ashamed again

Take my pain as gain

Let love be with me forever

And I’ll be a person that loves my name

So never steal my wild feathers

What’s left of my duck tape

I’ll use it as an escape!

I’ll tape their mouths with my strength and ability

To muffle out their stupidity

Neon ribbons and confetti

And my necklace made of spaghetti

That’s me, I know and feel

I might be crazy

But at least I’m real

So I’ll be me as me forever

So take my pain and heal

And never steal my wild feathers!
