In Our Hands

The world is laid before us,

Awaiting our command

School is slow receding and

The earth is in our hand

They say I can do any

Thing that I desire

I could save the dying

Or save a babe from fire

I could go to college

And be a businessman

Or skip the lot and fly around

For years without a plan

But what I want the most is

Just one simple thing

To serve the God of Heav’n and earth

My Savior and my King

I want to show my love to

Those who need it most

And share the joy of language with

A temporary host.

I long to be a linguist

A master of the word

And use my skill to love and care

For those who’ve not yet heard
