Peace

If I want peace then I must admit this place will not suffice.
War is what has come as people have grown off fear.
As life has become poison the cure has become death.
Though there must be an answer that is found with less sacrifice.

Bloodshed is not the key to further life,
Just as anger will never lead to prosperity,
And freedom is not always to be found with a knife.
Some people hope that a new cure lies deep in the strength of humanity.
Neither man nor women can get enough of such thoughts.
If the flow of blood cannot be stopped, we will do more than just die.
Life becomes blank, as blood turns people savage.
Destruction becomes more than a word, yet its meanings go untaught.

Ruins will lie everywhere, as stilled memories of our plight.
Withering bodies would fill the world with the harsh presence of ghost.
Lands of shadows could not hold life if nature losses the fight.
Sanity becomes vague as the mind runs wild in people who are but host.

This is what would be left: these people and land whose screams no one wants to hear.
Hope won’t grow from battles fought to live another breath.
No chance for hope to grow will come if life is just a lie.
Nothing of life is left when hope becomes a broken image.
When they say the future holds peace, we are left to wonder how many of us will be there.
Hate must be overcome, because if we live for it we will never escape its range.
People should know that having less pain is not the only reasonable health.
Nothing good will come for people who can only find revenge as fair.

Many wonder how we are to know who is to say what is best.
They should know that getting through means struggling until we push past the sorrow.
People must decide if peace is truly what they want and not just rest.
There is a need to understand that life starts being whole when forever stops being tomorrow.

Too late should no longer be a reasonable limitation
For with God leading, people can learn to live with one another.
People can grow to love once they can truly see.
And learn to smile from joy that is more than imagination.
Death is the only answer that has been used, yet there are so many more.
Our history will always show a ragged and horrible past,
Making us want to forget all the terrors of war,
But war must be remember if a peaceful survival is to last.

Even with the chance of advancement, there must be more change.
Peace will not be reach through comfort, food, and wealth.
We must gain our harmony through faith and each other.
This is the time to go forward in life and be free.

Robert Bloom

Very profound premice, and your opinion was most definitely represented strongly.  I wonder, though, if some more imagery, or other figurative language, might make the delivery less blunt.  By this I do not mean too strong, but rather that it could be refined and still have the strength needed to make people think.  Great poem.
