I don’t know how it could be different?

We were close as close as friends could get,

we shared everything from

food, clothes, homework, secrets, and yet you left.

Do you ever think about what we used to be like?

Me short and stout like a baby plant just beginning to sprout.

You just like a tree,

broad and strong as if nothing could phase you

Or had I thought.

On that day you said goodbye you shed a tear

only I would ever know it,

but you changed that day for the better.

You had put a light back on your face

It was gone for a long time,

if only it would have come back before you had to leave.

Seeing you for the first time since then,

makes everything seem okay.
