In a country where one color was once the norm
A multi-colored star is born
Where freedom once depended on race
Liberty is now allowed to every face
Although many racist and homophobic people remain
The time has come for a change
The first black president of the United States
Has ended the war in Iraq, a once more troubled place
So although history is altered slowly
Today people of all backgrounds are able to get to know me
