Raise a Glass

Raise a glass to the men

Who wrote that we shall have the right to bear arms for now

People are more likely to be killed by guns here, than in any other country in the world

Raise a glass to Theodore Roosevelt

Who fought for a more Progressive government and yet now

We are ranked the 16th most corrupt country in our world

Raise a glass to Michelle Obama

Who fought to bring an end to child obesity and still

We are home to the highest number of overweight people

Raise a glass to all the organizations

Who collect food to give to the less fortunate and yet still

We throw out 200,000 tons of edible food daily

Raise a glass to the ones

Who attempted to end discrimination and segregation and yet still

We are ranked in the top 10 most racist countries

Raise a glass to the 34% of billionaires

Who are Americans and yet

We are also ranked highest in poverty level

So raise a glass to all the people

Who looked up to our country

For I hope you see just how much it has failed you
