Red Strings

Should I let you loose or should I tie you down?

Little marionette doll whose red strings happened to intertwine with mine,

Strings which I long to take hold of,

Strings which I never want to let go of,

Strings which I want to take control of.

This knot which connects you and me,

Which represents our love,

Which I want to tighten,

Which I want to pull.

Little marionette doll whose red strings happened to intertwine with mine,

Should I let you loose or should I tie you down?

At times I want to pull you away,

At times I want you all to myself,

At times I want to protect you from the world.

Little marionette doll,

I realize you're not a doll,

You're not my puppet.

And although our red strings have been knotted together,

They are not free for me to pull you,

They are not free for me to bind you,

They are not free for me to chain you.

My darling you don't have strings binding you to me.

You have wings to explore,

You have wings to take you anywhere,

You have wings to fly.

Our red strings represent not chains, but our love.

So while you fly let the bow tied by us be a reminder to you that I'll always be here.

Darling,

Should I let you lose or should I tie you down?

Go.
