The Road to Freedom

Mon, 03/11/2013 - 23:36 -- ndunad

The road to freedom was filled with trials and tribulations

And the government’s mind was full of hesitation.

The white man despised us

And so they put us in the back of the bus.

They attacked our people and took them from their homes

They were separated from the rest and placed in slums.

We were beaten, battered, and bruised

But when asked to fight back we refused.

In times of trial we remained hopeful

And as time went on equality became obtainable.

We fought with words and mass speeches

We marched cross-country to be sure the message reaches.

Finally on July 2 in 1964 the dream was reached

With the help of thousands we overcame a great feet.
