Rumpelstiltskin's Daughter

Once upon a time, not far from here

A happy couple lived in a little hut.

The man was the village's ear,

Who unmistakenly heard of a bandit.

He watched the market every morning,

But no thief was in sight.

When the man started yawning,

He was startled by a figure in the night.

Now, he did not know who it was,

But as he crept closer, he saw it was his wife.

The man took a long pause,

For he noticed she had hardly shown any life.

She raised her head with a weak grin,

Telling him, "Do not be afraid.

We can finally have a child thanks to Rumpelstiltskin!"

However, the husband was dismayed.

He distrusted the use of such dark magic.

"Why would you do such a thing?" he questioned.

She replied, "It will not become anything tragic."

In the village of Spien, there was a legend.

Anyone who asks Rumpelstiltskin for help,

Shall receive that help, for a costly price.

Earlier that day, the wife went to Rumpelstiltskin.

She found him sitting in an abandoned windmill.

When she requested for twins,

Rumpelstiltskin replied with a chill.

"You may give birth to twins, as long as I keep the healthy one."

This confused the woman,

But the deal was done.

That is when the story began.

The husband anxiously waited nine months later.

His wife gave birth to a boy and girl,

With the girl being healthier.

Unexpectedly, Rumpelstiltskin entered the hut in a whirl.

"I am here to receive my end of the deal."

With that, he snatched the baby girl and left,

Ending the new family's zeal.

"What, oh what, shall I call you?"

Rumpelstiltskin pondered on a name for the girl.

Then, a name struck him like the flu.

"I shall name you Rapunzel!" he declared with a twirl.

Using his dark magic, he erected a 150-foot tower,

Unconquerable by any who dared attempt the climb.

All around the base was all sorts of flowers,

But no way to the tower's prime.

"No one will ever find her. She shall be all for me."

Many years passed by and the son,

Who was no longer a boy anymore,

Grew to be a soldier, but was desperate to find someone.

One day, he became lost and stumbled upon a tower with no door.

Puzzled, and noticing no way to climb it, he hid behind a rose bush.

Two hours later, a small man appeared, shouting, "Rapunzel. Let down your hair."

Then all at once, a long wave of hair sent the air away with a great push.

The soldier could smell the rose scent of the hair through the air.

When the little man left, the soldier decided to give it a try.

He called, "Rapunzel. Let down your hair."

Obediently, the hair came down, almost hitting the soldier in the eye.

Climbing the hair, he reached the window and had to just stare.

The girl he saw was immaculate and beautiful.

However, the girl became startled at the newcomer and tried to hit him,

But the soldier was skillful,

And evaded the attack with every limb.

When the girl calmed down, both instantly fell in love.

Like always, though, Rumpelstiltskin appeared unexpectedly.

He saw the soldier, grabbed him, and gave him a large shove.

The soldier fell quickly,

Landing in one of the rose bushes at the bottom.

"That was your twin brother. And now he will never see again." Rumpelstiltskin said.

"You monster!" The girl cried.
Looking up through the tears she shed,

The girl lunged at Rumpelstiltskin, took his dagger, and slew him with pride.

Frantically searching her dungeon for an escape route, she found a hidden stairwell.

The girl rushed down the stairs and stepped out from a mountain's cave.

She hurried to the soldier's body, limp and befell.

As the girl cried tears onto her brother's body, there was a light wave.

A little green fairy, who said she had just finished with Aurora (whoever that is), came to her.

For your courage and bravery, I shall revive this man for you.

Then, in a sudden blur,

The man rose and held onto the girl like glue.

"I am your sister, Rapunzel." Said the girl.

"Then that makes me your brother, James." Said the soldier.

For a while, both talked about their lives, then they made a swirl

All around the tower and headed back to Spiel,

The village where they were separated and now, joined back together.

And they lived happily ever after.... until someone else takes possession of the dark magic.
