Seen and Heard

The world is full of empty words

“How are you?” “I’m fine”

Talking so much while saying so little

I’m too busy listening

To the words around me

To say things of my own

But in a poem

I say the things

That others are too scared to say

In a poem

I don’t have to talk

The words speak for me

In a poem

I’m not the listener

I’m one that is listened to

In a poem

I can create something

That will last longer than myself

In a poem

I have enough time

To think of what I need to say

In a poem

My intentions are good

And the end result is too

In a poem

I slowly choose the words

And I am not misunderstood

In a poem

I find myself

The person that I want to be

In a poem

I can talk so little

And yet say so much

In a poem

I write mere words

So that I can be seen and heard
