Set Forth

Sun, 05/08/2016 - 07:49 -- Corinna

The waves are steady and still

Bright is the sun like a daffodil

but a storm is brewing up ahead

Some stayed, but others fled

Determined was I to sail hereafter

no matter what, despite the disasters

Relentless waves kept striking me

The storm gets heavier and it’s harder to see

Not knowing which direction I was heading,

I kept going regardless of the setting

Water lunges and the boat sways harder,

but what lies ahead imbued me with great ardor

I scream for help but no one hears

Rain mixes in with the tears

Not knowing where I am I’m lost at sea,

but I kept sailing, and a dash of light passes me;

with nowhere else to go I follow the light

I follow it with all my might

The light is warm and the light is kind

drifted ashore, a lighthouse is what I find
