Sitting On A Swing

I feel like I've been
Sitting on a swing
Waiting for someone to push me
But sunset comes
And I'm still here
Waiting ever so wistfully

I've been waiting all day
So I finally say
I must do this on my own
It took me long to realize
I'll probably always be alone

So I put my feet down
And push at the ground
It's time to swing myself
It took me long to realize
Not to wait on someone else

I enjoy the breeze
And smile in the dark
But the longing comes again
It's times like these that I truly need
A companion and a friend

But there is one
Who is God's own son
He is Jesus and He brings peace
It took me long to realize
He's always beside me
