To Slay The Beast
Location
The world was swaying, his vision was blurred
His lip was fat, his speech was slurred.
They came at him in a pack, four of them appeared
And when they left, the blood had been smeared.
A painful walk home, it has happened before
Although each time, it hurts more and more.
He thought the monster was slain 50 years ago,
He thought signed pieces of paper did the final blow,
But he endures its wrath, no matter what the sheets say
He cries himself to sleep, dreading the next day.
The monster feeds off of racist hate
And can grow at an alarming rate
We as society need to starve the beast,
Take away its breath and not let it feast.
We all bleed red and take in air
The color of our skin, no one should care.
