Brave hands of all shape, color, age, and size
intertwine to form links of hope and light.
Thousands saying, “Brother, sister, RISE, RISE!
Stand for equality and join the fight!”
But instead of easy victory,
beatings and threats were the response to peace.
But many endured all…peacefully.
With all the pain, why did the fight not cease?
So people can be equally treated,
not suffer because of things such as race.
Stand for civil rights, do not be seated!
Stand and stare injustice right in its face
until justice rolls down like waters,
and righteousness like a mighty stream prospers.
