Stars

I was empty, before you touched me,

And filled my heart with stars.

You graced my thoughts with all of these dreams,

And made us who we are.

You fixed what was never broken,

Provided shelter in a storm.

You lifted me up, made me feel new,

As we kept each other warm.

You held a mirror to my face,

And slipped your hand in mind.

And for the first time in my life, I could breathe,

And ignore the other side.

The girl who used to hate herself,

The girl who overeats,

The girl who sometimes takes a night,

And cries herself to sleep.

And here, you stay, you love, you laugh,

For reasons, to me, unknown,

But for what it's worth, I feel complete,

Because you are my own.

And when you put my heart before yours,

And when I see you cry,

I ask you why you touched me, you say,

"Because I love you; that is why."
