Still Alive

Location

Gone for now, but still alive
To keep the thoughts of many who've died.
I walk through many problems outside,
I just close my eyes and think 'I'm still alive.'

The years wear away at my flesh,
But I'm still alive as long I have my breath.
Lasting to all of those whom I know,
Even for the time when my body lies below.

I hold on to my life through each dreary day,
Though I feel my years burning away.
If I live through five score,
I know I'll endure, plagues and wars,

But if I live beyond these decades,

And cross through the generations,
I know I'll see the trials and triumphs of many nations.
I stick through though times I'll cry,
Yet it'll be unseen, and if it is I'll deny.

For I avoid a public eye.
Indeed I try
To keep the troubles away.
"Actions repeat themselves," I've heard people say.

Through decades people's thoughts and dreams continue to live,
And as long I breathe, and speak so will I;
Until all humanity has disappeared, our thoughts and dreams will never die.
