Thankful

Mon, 01/16/2017 - 19:37 -- EllieOh

I’m thankful for the stereotypical things.

for my family

for my friends

for the food on my plate when we say grace at Thanksgiving.

I’m thankful for the people that sit next to me at the table.

for my gorgeous sisters

for my beautiful cousins

for my perfect best friend who takes silly photos with me.

And while I am truly grateful for those people and that food,

I never say thanks for the little things.

Those little things that make such a difference to others,

that make no major difference to me

the roof above my head

the solid ground beneath my feet

the food in my fridge, the water in my sink

the bed I sleep in each night-the one with enough blankets to keep me warm.

The things we take for granted,

the things we should be thankful for

because other people would love them,

other people need them

This year, I’m thankful for the little things

the roof above my head

the solid ground beneath my feet

the food in my fridge, the water in my sink

the bed I sleep in each night-the one with enough blankets to keep me warm.
