They Say

They say love is patient

They say love is kind

It should be.

It was not patient when you yelled at me for being three minutes late.

It was not kind when you pushed me down.

They say love does not envy.

They say it does not boast

Was it love when you accused me of cheating?

Was it love when you boasted you would ruin me?  Destroy my reputation?

They say love is not proud

They say love is not rude

You are proud, but only of yourself.

You are rude to me, all the time.

They say love is not self seeking

They say love is not easily angered

You only seek yourself.

You are angry at me all the time.  Especially when you call me names.  When you hit me.

They say love keeps no record of wrongs

They say love never fails

You only held grudges.

You failed me.

I will not fail myself.
