Together

Together, we can break every chain holding us back.

This black on black crime will one day end.

One day I will no longer be hated by someone I should call sister.

There will be no more disrespect from a man I should call brother.

We are holding ourselves back.

The "man" has not locked up all of our young men.

Our young men are trapped behind the bars of baggy clothes, unfathered offspring, guns, and a loss of direction.

How can we expect to achieve excellence when we are keeping ourselves from getting there?

Our young women are trapped behind no self respect, the media's depiction of beauty and loving every thing that woo's our soul.

African American people have overcame too much to turn back now.

Martin Luther King Jr. did not die to see his peolple go astray.

President Barack Obama paved a way for our commuity,

but we are too busy trying to be more successful than the next that we become to prideful to recieve help.

One day my people will see how excellent they are.

My people will lend a helping hand to a fallen friend.

We will stop hurting one another and start caring for each other.

I see a brighter tomorrow for the younger generation.

This current generation is searching for guidance,

so why is the past generation not in alliance?
