triumphant grin
Locations
As the day died and the night awaked
I went out only to smell something half-baked
The cross bond fire illuminated the skies
With loud screams and tearful cries
The atrocious stench of burning flesh
Didn’t quiet come across my nose as fresh
The triumphant giggles from the robbed men
Stirred my anger as they said "Amen"
He hung from the tree like a fruit
Only to appear as an over ripened grapefruit
His crimson blood dripped to the root
Like a driver in his ocean dwelling wet suit
Time pasted and his cries faded
With blood and flesh the ground was shaded
Time pasted and his body became crinkled
However his hands and face grew wrinkled
His body became very dry
Never knowing the situation would be so awry
I ran home, away from danger
Tears flooded my eyes from rage and anger
I wondered endlessly what the poor boy did
Because he got lynched and he was only a kid
I'm sure he wasn't guilty, no doubt he was innocent
But they killed him when the moon appeared crescent
Those ghost-robbed men, the Klu Klux Klan
Just couldn’t let him go, he had no right being a free man
But they despise the color of his skin
So they lynched him, to achieve that triumphant grin
