Unwanted maturity

365 days previous,

They were days more care free and light-hearted,

My mind more innocent, ignorant, and naive, of course

Time passed,

First love I tasted,

First election I voted,

First steps I took to accept my future as a college student and adult

More time passed,

Knee-deep in scholarship applications,

Drowning in worry of those big figured tuition fees,

Feeling as if my future is balanced on the tip of a knife

There is an anchor

Keeping me grounded

A hope, a light

Ahead and guiding me

My passion in life is my path

As to which I will gladly follow
