Civil rights
Whats right?
For our nation has it mixed up
How can a black man be shot down
In the street by a white man
and we just look the other way?
RIP Trayvon
RIP Martin Luther King
For your efforts may have changed the world
But not our hearts
Racism has still not been erased from our brains
It still remains
you cant but wonder how it feels to enter a room
And feel out of place
You hear the whispers, the sublimal jokes
As they ask you if you love fried chicken and kool-aid
Anger rises within
And your forced to share a smile, a laugh or two
Cause your outnumbered
So as I sit
I'm reminded of the fact
That those marching shoes
Gave me what I have today
Those shoes gave me the ability
To live for myself, to live out my destiny
I am a bond that can't be broken
You can't break whats been through hell
My ancestors taught me this
I am a powerful, strong, black women
A Daughter of destiny who has seen it all
And to answer your question
I'm Vegetarian
