What Can We Do?

Wed, 05/10/2017 - 15:32 -- cassaad

"Does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?"

The words of our anthem intended for all,

Have yet to ring true.

What can we do?

The flag still waves,

But freedom is demarcated by your race or gender.

And yet while we try to progress,

Our growth is hindered.

What can we do?

With walls constructed,

Are we the land of the free?

While health care changes,

Is our well being a  priority?

What can we do?

Xenophobia belongs in the past,

We must undo what has been done.

Human experience unlabeled,

Acceptance for everyone.
