One with a national capital and 5 great lakes

I’m thinking of a country with a constitution of rights

And the freedom to say anything one likes

I’m thinking of a country that is the most diverse

Yet has a discrimination rate that is just getting worse

I’m thinking of a country where wages have limits

And a person is raped every 2 minutes

I’m thinking of a country that claims equality is present

But has a gender wage gap of almost 20 percent

I’m thinking of a country with murder on the rise

and more school shootings claiming many student lives

I’m thinking of a country where bullying is worse countrywide

And we see more and more child suicides

Name me a country with leaders that stretch the truth

And fake news is spread to all of the youth

I’m thinking of a country without universal health care

Where the poor stay poor and the rich don’t share

I’m thinking of a country with its kids getting fatter

And has to be reminded that black lives matter

I’m thinking of a country that welcomes all races

But bans people for their religion from 7 different places

I’m thinking of a country that invades others for peace

Then leaves soon after, causing violence to increase

And then when the invaded country is left in shame

The country I’m thinking of takes none of the blame

I’m thinking of a country with immigrants throughout

But now wants a wall to keep them all out

I’m thinking of a country that I don’t consider bad

However, where it is headed is just very sad

This country has citizens whose ideals are the same

True happiness is the name of the game

But its citizens decided that this happiness comes when?

It comes when the president makes this country great again

I’m thinking of a country where everyone is divided

People are protesting and everything’s one sided

To better this country, the citizens need help from above,
