Black, white, brown
What holds these colors to authority?
What empowers one to be bolder than the other?
eyes, face, hair
What's next?
toes, nose, and bones
What's the difference between these words and me?
Why do I contain more power when these lines contain the truth?
paper can't tell lies and neither can my eyes
Why follow my words until you see him?
brunnette against blonde
black against white
Why judge my words against this thin layer of skin?
Why believe his lies?
When my eyes speak the truth
Why believe my words when his eyes can entice you?
Why beat my brown back when you can shake his white hand?
Why joke about my race when my ancestors were enslaved?
What difference do he and I share that persuades you?
Oh no!
Society is at fault
Oh of course your the victim!
Placing labels on people as if we are mere cans of soup
Go ahead!
Place a boulder on my shoulders
What satisfaction does it give you?
Instead place a blindfold over your eyes
Now tell me what do you see?
My truths or his lies?

Very strong poem, with intense imagery. The simile comparing certain individuals to cans of soup definitely stood out the most to me.
