What Is Greatness?

You sailed the seven seas

To escape a life of tyranny

Your country wouldn't allow you to practice your religion

So you made one huge decision

Scatter to newfoundland

And become a new man

You pillaged, raped, and colonized

But only saw great honor in your eyes

African chattel slavery kept the economy booming

Until the north decided the industrial era was looming

Newly freed slaves headed west

To strike gold and hope for the best

Then came Angel Island where the Chinese came to work

Immigration officers continuously lurked

We spent all of the 1900s fighting for basic civil rights

But it seemed that whites were able to be in the spotlight

Fast forward to know and nothing much has changed

The tensions in America are even more estranged

So if America is so great

Why has nothing changed to this date?
