What They Fought For

What did they fight for, Those brave souls marching in the streets?
They wanted equality and justice, These two freedoms guaranteed.
Facing power and gunfire during their fight
So their children could sleep in comfort at night.
To be treated as equals and have the some chances
As those "better" than them, standing in haughty stances.
Civil rights have been earned and won
But the fight is never done.
