What's Important To You

I lay up in bed

Pass midnight, my alarm clock says

Thoughts are jumbled around in my head

"What's more important to you?" They whisper

"Your education or happines, you must choose..." They whisper

Tears are streaked down my face

I'm loosing friends and my faith

I praying to that everlasting grace.

My grades are dropping, my parents are fighting.

Everything is at my hands, and I don't know what to say.

"What's more important to you?" They whisper

"Your future or the things you praise?"

I want them to stop, and be able to walk.

Walk out on humanity that is sexist and cruel.

Walk out on humanity that is discriminitive and cruel

On the color of your skin or the religion you choose.

"What's more important to you?" They whisper

"Your health or those ACT question you're going to have to answer?"

Sobs rack my body, reverberating my soul.

Why does the world make me choose?

"I'm done with life!" I want scream.

To shout so people can hear my true hopes and dreams.

But I can't.

So I lay and awake in bed, as they whisper in my head-

"What's more important to you.."

"You must choose..."
