Why do we say

We the people

            I the person

here I stand, the legacy of generations of work and sweat and tears

taught in a system, by a system, to work for the system.

            For the People

for the Government.

“Our forefathers set on this continent a new nation”

a nation founded on blood and ideals and religion and the desire to be free.

a nation placed on the backs of men [and women].

There is liberty, and all white men [and women] are considered equal.

My country.

            The United States

                                                            of America.

a place on this Earth where any man or woman could come and work.

And work

minimum wage, inflation, health care… all these arguments. different ideas.

There is one goal, everyone wants to die rich.

So what’s wrong with the country?

            The country built for

                                                one type of person

We are told at an early age

            that slavery is gone

that both men and women can vote

that if you do well in school you can do well in life

In reality, wage gaps exist, racism prevents qualified men from being hired, sexism makes women feel inferior.

in reality, you can apologize but the scars are still there

and what’s wrong with our nation but that we have scars

and promises for a better life

                                                                        but still so many scars

I the person.

We the people.
