Why I Write

I harness the words and pound them in place,

To form a body;

I smooth its edges and polish its face,

To forge a soul;

Into the empty form I breathe,

A new Life;

Each word its blood and each stanza a bone,

To walk;

Unleashed from my mind and hand alone,

To live;

It meets the many as it grows,

Renewed;

Now here it stands for all to see:

To challenge the right,

To set us free,

To fight the fight,

And let us be…

And now you see,

This is why I write.
