Words That Are Mine

There’s power in my words
Power stronger than the color you see on my skin
Power stronger than the stories you hear of my sin
Power that stems from deep within
To captivate the power of your mind
So that it connects and adheres to the power of my words.
My words are strong because they are M I N E
I give them light when I want them to shine
I dull them when I want them dim
I can disguise them to sneak up on you in attack
Like a soldier at war my words are, MY WORDS
Your definition of me will never, can never
Be stronger than the definition I give myself
By the power invested in me by the power of my words
I can never be suppressed, depressed, or oppressed.
I can never be confined or defined. Some ask why?
Because the power of my words are
Stronger than the power of the suppressor or depressor or oppressor
How you say?
Take my arms, I still have my words
Take my happiness, I still have my words
Take my freedom, I still have my words
Take my stability, I still have my words
Throw me into war, I still have my words
Cut me, shoot me, I still have my words
For it is until man can take my soul
That I will forever have my words
It is until man can take my mind
That I will forever have my words
My words
MY words
