You Make Dirty Words Sound Pretty

"I love you" once sounded dirty to me.

"Love" was a woeful word thrown right after fistswhen blood was drawnor regrets were felt."I love you" sounded like liesthat lied between the stained sheets of another woman.Yet the day I met you,"I love you" felt like sweet lips pressed together in smilesand tasted like chocolate ice cream. It looked like the sunset overlooking the riverand felt like the chill that early summer night gifted us."I love you" sounds pure and loyal,it comes to life in our shared hope for a better futureand in the plans of a queen sized bed, heat, electricity, rent. Your voice sounds like love, safety and softness. You made "I love you" sound like a promise.
