Oscar Wilde

  • He was born “Oscar Fingal O’Flahertie Wills Wilde” (he had three middle names!). That’s a mouthful, huh?

  • Known for being eccentric and focusing on drama, his dying words were “My wallpaper and I are fighting a duel to the death. One or other of us has got to go.”

  • Wilde had a photographic memory, and his fellow students at Magdalen College in Oxford praised him for being able to recite from memory long passages of text.

  • Wilde had a wild (get it?) fashion sense. He loved to wear all different types of hats and wore green carnations in the lapel of his coat.
