Glow-Up, Grow Up

I had never realized I was a teenager.

Being an adult came naturally after 10.

I regret having that mentality back then.

I realized I was an adult when I saw my her,

My mom, and realized I was a mirror.

I was becoming the adults I looked up to when seven.

The engineers, secretaries, and businessmen.

Now, being a teen is something I would prefer.

I now understand being told to keep my youth.

To stop and smell the flowers.

To keep my childlike wonder.

I now wish I could have been less uncouth.

Ignored the business of world powers.

And go out in the rain and liked the thunder.

This poem is about:
Me
