2 + 2

Childhood is like a lost toy,

Holding many memories and joy.

Little hands grow bigger

The girl’s clothes don’t fit her.

Out grown her babbling twitter,

Now her mind is so bitter.

Gone is her innocence,

Gone are her toys.

Now she runs for survival,

Trying to keep from ploys.

She can’t sit and smile,

For she fears a Trojan horse,

A harmful gift,

And trust causing remorse.

Wish you had again,

Those tiny child hands,

When you only cried,

At your mother’s reprimands.

When everything that you were

And everything you knew,

Was as carefree and easy ;

As simple as two plus two.
