2016

On December 31, 2015 I was in church
Most believe it can’t save you, from sin that hurts
I cried on high to send blessing below
Once 2016 came I wasn’t ready for the show

Scene one
My mother was diagnosed with cancer which broke me down
I was broke, helping my grandparents with my mother slowly not coming around
If you knew this lady you would compare her to the sun
Yet, the cancer was the burning one

Scene two, is how school got to me
How am I supposed to study with a mind so ugly?
My grandparents at home, Financial Aid left me alone
No money in my pocket to suppose myself
I wanted to end it all but I had to remember I’m living for somebody else

Scene three
I have to overcome because 2015 already won
With my grandparents struggling and cancer coming back to my mother again
I felt like giving up because it felt like I was repay for my sins
The people I love the most are going through hell
I can’t put them out of their misery I just wanted to yell

Scene four is how it all wraps up
She beat the cancer, her gloves were too tough
I found an internship that help with my grandparents medicinal bills
Message of the year is keep the faith, don’t peel
I never really got to have fun for myself
Yet with college I’ll be able to help everyone else

This poem is about:
