Almond Eyes

Almond Eyes,

searching for a piece of herself,

in a round-eyed town.

Her identity uncertain,

the lack of similar faces,

it all used to cut her down.

Almond Eyes,

learning to embrace,

the features of her face,

and admiring the almond eyes

staring back from her tv screen.

Almond Eyes,

wanting to learn about

the ethnicity that gave her

the eye shape,

that she has come to appreciate.
