Already Gone

I knew my childhood was fleeting the moment I came home from school one day.

My mom was holding back tears and just staring at me, no words to say.

When she gained her composure, I learned my cousin had died.

With a gun in her hand, she committed suicide.

And this fact hit me hard because I know so many who have been there.

But this, this was something out of a complete nightmare.

My best friend, other friends and even more family members have experienced the same

Someone in my class ended it too, and we all knew his name.

Understanding what had happened was what made me realize.

I wasn't a kid anymore, not in my eyes.

I knew I had to try and do something about this.

I can't let the ones I love turn to the ones I miss.

But with it all is a valuable lesson to learn.

With suicide, you're completely past the point of no return.

Life is precious, and childhood is short,

but be there for once another and offer support.
