America 2017

This is the Great U.S.A

Spreading ‘democratic bliss’ from Boston to San Jose

Yet we don't address the problems that plague our country

Unemployment, expensive tuition, and shaming refugees

How can we still call this the land of the free

When we let rapists free and incarcerate someone for a gram of tree

The court system, the government, and the politics are all corrupt

The current presidency would be lucky if a rebellion doesn't erupt.

How can we call this the nation of democracy and freedom?

While people look at minorities and say ‘we don’t even need them’

But we do, we really do

This is the home of diversity, home of all races,

But they're being shunned by travel bans and dividing walls run by a bunch of racists

There are many issues in this nation of fifty states

Too many in a country that one orange clown cannot make great

Because it never was

There is always improvement to make

But that responsibility is for us Americans to take

As citizens of the country, we all need to do our part

Because this country was formed for people of good hearts
