America the Beautiful?

“...America, America,

God shed his grace on thee

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea!”

How do we sing of a country so great

But when we look through the cracks we see the Lies

God may shed the light but we continue to follow darkness

This is not a shot at religion

But do we actually listen to what they say

I get it,

A mystical man in the sky is not something you would believe

But when you open your eyes we begin to see more

And yet we often treat Christians, Catholics, Muslims and more

As this sort of inherent evil

But that’s what our world is like now

How can we have this “brotherhood”

When some people still can’t accept that we are all one race

Human

I guess that’s too philosophical

Until we realize that

No matter where you’re born

The Pacific and Atlantic don’t just surround America

America the Beautiful?

In a country that is so fueled with hate

All I see is ugly

Ugly souls, ugly hearts

Not enough beauty to see past it

We make others ugly so how can a country so wrecked

Be beautiful?

Until all the suffering of others ends

It will stay separated

No brotherhood

No way for God’s grace to save us

So yes

Let’s make a change

And make America great.
