America the Beautiful

America the beautiful, oh land so proud and vast

It saddens me to see you so, both now and in the past

Degraded of the liberty so many young men died for

I wish to see you learn again of something more to fight for

America, I love you, dear land close to my heart

Yet in this age, brother turns against brother; things fall apart

Feelings hold more worth than freedom; grace is seldom found

In the midst of unenlightened riots, hatred all around

I begin to find it hard to breathe, or even still pretend

that everything is still okay, that relationships will mend

America, where did you go?

Did you try to flee and hide?

I and many others are being swept away by the tide

of a changing culture and society, shaken to the core,

and it's not uncommon for nobody to know what they're fighting for.

America, you're beautiful, but won't you understand

if you continue on like this as a dark corrupted land,

the light inside your heart will fade, you'll know no more of Love

You'll soon forget who you once were and what you're made of

America the beautiful is made for so much more

A refuge of true liberty and freedom in uproar

But lack you love in every little action that you make,

and all your people will collapse with you, for selfishness's sake

America the beautiful, whom for so many have died for,

I swear you'll fall for anything if you don't know what to fight for

If you have everything you need but still know not of love,

you'll lose what truly makes you you;

what makes you so beloved.
